About
The Columbia County Tourist Development Council (TDC) is located in Lake City, Florida, and is branded as Visit Lake City, Florida’s Springlands. The TDC is a local government organization responsible for promoting tourism and sports tourism while enhancing visitor experiences throughout Columbia County. Funded by the Tourist Development Tax (often called the “bed tax”) generated from hotels, campgrounds, and other short-term lodging, the program supports destination marketing, branding initiatives, special events, sporting events, and tourism-related facilities that help attract visitors. By highlighting Columbia County’s natural springs, outdoor recreation, heritage, and community events, the TDC works to strengthen the local economy, support local businesses, and enhance quality of life for residents while positioning the county as an appealing year-round destination.
The TDC serves as a voice for local tourism partners and helps spearhead the development and expansion of the county’s tourism economy. Its sports marketing efforts are branded under the Columbia County Sports Commission, which works in partnership with the TDC to attract and promote sports tourism opportunities throughout the county.
A proud partner of VISIT FLORIDA, the Columbia County TDC operates a Certified Visitor Information Center (CVIC) in its lobby. Visitors are invited to stop by the interactive center to learn about local attractions, experiences, and events, and to pick up brochures, maps, and postcards to help plan their stay.
