For over 35 years, Another Way (AW) has been the only certified domestic violence and rape crisis center serving the rural counties of Columbia, Dixie, Hamilton, Gilchrist, Lafayette and Levy and the sole certified rape crisis center for Suwannee County.
Our mission is to support and empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence through safe shelter and advocacy and engage the community through awareness and education. Our vision is communities with zero tolerance for domestic violence and sexual violence.
We provide 24/7 services including confidential emergency shelter, outreach advocacy, community education, and a crisis helpline, serving as a vital safety net and prevention leader in North Central Florida.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Another Way, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Executive Director (ED) to guide the organization into its next chapter of service and impact. The Executive Director is responsible for strategic and operational leadership across all programs, services, and departments. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED directly supervises the Program Director, Executive Assistant, Accounting Specialist and oversees the work of an outsourced accounting firm. This role requires trauma-informed, survivor-centered leadership, strong organizational stewardship, and a deep commitment to community collaboration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership & Development
- Serve as a role model and demonstrate, encourage, and offer direction in fairness, consistency, attentiveness, ability to work with others, and effective conflict resolution.
- Supervise and mentor staff and volunteers, promoting an inclusive, trauma-informed work environment.
- Develop, direct, and motivate an organization capable of meeting objectives, providing advocacy, quality program services and primary prevention activities.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques including impartiality, maintaining patience, confidence and composure, exercising independent thinking, taking responsibility for results, listening patiently and expressing ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Review and implement policies, procedures, and HR practices that meet funder and legal standards.
Financial Oversight
- Lead annual budgeting and ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
- Monitor systems to ensure the effective and efficient use of all organizational resources.
- Ensure that Another Way facilities, property and equipment are well maintained and appropriate for service delivery.
- Oversee financial operations and work with accounting staff to prepare for annual audits.
Grant Management and Fund Development
- Prepare and manage grants to ensure compliance with all funder requirements.
- Seek new funding sources to support and grow services.
- Lead AW through monitoring visits ensuring organizational readiness and compliance.
Board Relations and Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the Board to set strategic goals, monitor progress, and support fundraising and governance activities.
- Provide the Board with regular updates and data to support informed decision-making.
- Encourage active board participation in development, outreach, and governance.
Community Engagement and Partnership Building
- Build and maintain partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and advocacy groups to create a comprehensive system of care for survivors.
- Represent AW at regional and statewide meetings, trainings and events.
- Promote AW’s visibility and credibility within the community.
Communications and Branding
- Ensure consistent and compelling communication across all platforms.
- Lead and/or support creation of outreach materials, impact reports, and public awareness campaigns.
Additional Responsibilities
- Be on call 24/7 for emergencies or high-priority matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 5 years in senior nonprofit leadership, with experience navigating growth or change.
- Previous Executive Director experience strongly preferred
- Expertise in staff supervision, team building and organizational development.
- Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma-informed practices highly valued.
- Proven success in grant writing, fund management, and compliance
- Demonstrated collaboration with boards, funders, and external partners.
- Proficiency in budgeting, risk management, and multi-site operations.
- Deep commitment to Another Way’s mission and vision with strong ethical leadership.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, Level II background screening, and motor vehicle report.
