JOB DESCRIPTION
This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual labor. Employees in this class are responsible for performing light and heavy laboring tasks satisfactorily in various grounds keeping and maintenance work. Some assignments, including elementary equipment operation, may require skills that can be readily learned on the job. Work is performed under the immediate direction of a superior, but many tasks assigned may be routine and repetitive and can be carried on with only general supervision. Employees are responsible for communicating with the public on general facility use.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum experience: High school graduate or its equivalent, at least 18 years of age. One (1) year experience in housekeeping or similar custodial work; labor experience in landscape, maintenance and repair work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES/MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license required. CDL Class B Florida driver’s license preferred, but not required
SALARY: $15.00 per hour, no benefits

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clears brush and cuts and edges grass with hand tools and power operated machines
Assists in planting trees and shrubbery and maintains the lawns and grounds of various County sites; removes dirt, rubbish, weeds, leaves, and other refuse from grounds.
Repairs and cleans buildings, walks, trails, tools and equipment; such duties as sweeping, mopping, cleaning of bathrooms and toilets; emptying trash cans and waste baskets.
Maintains roads, trails, playgrounds and other recreation areas.
Installs new and old signs; erects barricades; installs new and repairs existing fencing, assists in ball field maintenance.
Removes, installs, and repairs various types of water and sewer pipes.
Must be able to operate equipment such as lawnmower, edger, weed eater, blower, hand saws, drills, carpentry tools, hand tools and other equipment as required
Must be able to read, learn, understand and abide by all Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures, Rules and
Regulations, and County Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays
Must be available to work alternate days during the work week.
Must be able to communicate with the public to enforce rules of the county facility
NON -ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to perform physical work related to the position. Work may be performed without direct supervision. Tasks performed indoors will cause exposure to various chemicals and noxious fumes Tasks performed outdoors will cause exposure to insects, heights, confined areas, and extreme weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS/DEMANDS
Requires use of both hands while performing essential duties in various positions of walking, standing, stooping, and sitting. Requires climbing stairs and ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, bending, kneeling, and crawling. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Oral communication skills. Adequate eyesight and hearing to perform essential functions safely.
