JOB DESCRIPTION
This is moderately heavy manual work in routine housekeeping; grounds keeping and general maintenance work in County Buildings. Instructions from superiors are specific in nature and work is subject to close inspection during progress and upon completion. Where employees do not work under close supervision, work follows a well-established routine.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience: High School graduate or its equivalent preferred, at least 18 years of age. One-year experience in housekeeping or similar custodial work; or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform all job functions.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES/MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License required.
SALARY: $15.45 per hour plus benefits

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Sweeps and mops floors and entry areas; spot cleans carpets as needed; empties waste baskets and removes trash; cleans bathrooms, toilets, floors and sinks; restocks restroom and cleaning supplies; cleans windows; door glass and interior glass surfaces; dusts or cleans interior surfaces, including furniture and baseboards; vacuums floors and upholstered furniture; sweeps or otherwise clears parking lots of waste; weeds flower beds; strips and wax floors; moves boxes and materials as needed; waters and cares for plants; sets up and removes tables and chairs for meetings; mows and edges the lawn; fertilizes grass as needed; periodically pressure washes the outside of buildings; removes trash and debris from grounds; trim shrubs. Must be able to operate various equipment such as lawnmower, edger, weed eater, blower, hand saws, drills, buffing machine, carpentry tools, hand tools and other equipment as required. Performs minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment. Must be able to learn, understand and abide by all Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures, Rules and Regulations and County Personnel Policies and Procedures. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS/DEMANDS
Ability to perform physical work related to the position, use both hands simultaneously while in various positions of walking, standing, stooping and sitting while performing essential duties. Able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. This position requires oral communication, also involves adequate eyesight and hearing to safely perform all functions. This position requires climbing stairs and ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, bending, kneeling and crawling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tasks that are performed indoors will cause exposure to various chemicals and noxious fumes. Tasks performed outdoors will cause exposure to insects, heights, confined areas, and extreme weather conditions.
