Drug Take Back hosted by the Columbia County Sheriffs Office
Saturday, April 25, 2026 (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
This year’s NDTB Day will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 am – 2:00 PM.
We will have 2 locations to serve our community: CCSO D2 Office in Fort White and Cheek and Scott at US-90W/NW Turner Ave. Both locations will be manned by CCSO deputies. (Addresses on flyer)
Through a nationwide partnership with law enforcement, NDTB Day works to keep our homes safe by removing unused and dangerous medications from medicine cabinets. On this day, the public can surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical substances to law enforcement for safe destruction. This effort aims to reduce the risk of drug abuse and raise national awareness about medication safety.
**What We Accept**
• Prescription (Rx) and over-the-counter (OTC) medications, including veterinary drugs, are all welcome — the species of the patient doesn't matter
• Medications may remain in their original containers — no need to separate drugs from vials; both plastic and glass containers are accepted
• Pre-loaded syringes are accepted only if the needle has been removed by the patient; Epi-Pens are accepted since their needles are sheathed
• Medications dispensed to nursing home residents may be accepted, as those medications are the personal property of the patient
**What We Do NOT Accept**
• No needles of any kind
• No inhalers or aerosol medications — these can explode during incineration
**Privacy & Anonymity**
• Drop-offs are completely anonymous — drugs will not be counted, inventoried, or logged
• Participants simply drop their container into the collection bag and walk away — no interaction required
• HIPAA does not apply to this program; there is no obligation to remove or alter prescription labels
• However, consumers concerned about privacy are encouraged to remove or deface labels before drop-off
• All materials will be fully incinerated, protecting participant privacy
Please share this post with family and friends to let them know about this date and locations so they can properly discard any of the above type medications. Lake City Police Department - Lcflapd Cheek and Scott Pharmacy
