Lake City Fire Department Station 1: Push-In Ceremony

Description
The Lake City Fire Department is proud to announce its upcoming "Push-In" Ceremony at Station 1 in downtown Lake City.
The "push-in" ceremony is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century, during which firefighters would push hand-drawn fire engines into the station after each call. In the 18th century, firefighters would disconnect the horses from horse-drawn steam engines and push the engines into the station. With the invention of motorized fire engines in the 19th century, the need to manually move the equipment was eliminated. Fire departments still hold push-in ceremonies today to honor the tradition and to celebrate new equipment.
The community is invited to take part in this time-honored tradition!
