Students are out of school for summer break and the weather is heating up. In the National News, the Pro-Life community is facing active and exciting times. On Monday, May 2, a first draft of the opinion that Justice Samuel Alito wrote regarding the Supreme Court's decision on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case was leaked to the press. In it, Justice Samuel Alito wrote that the nearly 50-year-old Roe v. Wade decision must be overruled to "return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives." The draft that was released is not the final decision. The Supreme Court Justices are not required to publicize their final decision until later this summer. Roe vs Wade took that decision away from the voters by making the argument that abortion itself was a fundamental right, protected in the 14th Amendment. Overturning Roe simply means - that voters in each state will have a say in how abortion would be regulated, if at all. Whatever happens with Roe, the work of pregnancy centers remains the same. That means we come alongside with love and support for women and families who find themselves with an unexpected pregnancy, We’re building relationships and ultimately sharing the love of Christ with them. At the Pregnancy Care Center, we understand and clearly see the influence and impact of fathers. Good and godly fathers are the unsung heroes of America today. We strive to help men understand what God has to say about the difference a godly father can make in the lives of their children and the power and blessing a father can bring to families and communities. As fathers go, so goes our culture. A godly father sets the spiritual tone and temperature in the home. Being a father on this earth does not last for very long. Sure, some days may seem longer than others, but in the end, you always hear about how fast life goes by. Often, women need their partner’s support as he is the most influential person in the pregnancy decision. Men often need external support to embrace the high calling of fatherhood before they will provide the support their partner needs. That’s why it’s critical to engage both women and men and empower them both to choose life for their unborn children. That’s what you do every day through your prayers and giving.
