JOB DESCRIPTION
Performs a variety of skilled and technical work in the operations, maintenance, and repair of water/wastewater treatment facilities and associated systems. Work is performed with minimal supervision of the Utility Director. This position is responsible for operating and managing water treatment facilities.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience: High School diploma or GED; Must possess, as a minimum, Drinking Water Class “C” State of Florida FDEP certification at the time of hire. Dual certification in Water and Wastewater a plus.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES/MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Drinking Water Class “C” State of Florida FDEP certification at the time of hire. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
SALARY: $20.01 per hour plus benefits

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Preventative and predictive maintenance of Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant. Works with the public on utility related issues
- Cleans and maintains equipment, tools, and work area
- Install water meters
- Verifies water meters
- Operates medium and heavy equipment
- Knowledge in the methods and practices of water/wastewater facilities
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work requires exposure to hazardous conditions and noxious chemicals. Work requires the performance of tasks outdoors under extreme conditions and inclement weather. On-call (outside of business hours) rotating schedule will be required with a one (1) hour response time. During emergency conditions, all County employees are automatically considered emergency service workers; employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Uses or repairs small/light equipment, such as power tools. Uses or repairs medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers. All employees must possess knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and be able to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS/DEMANDS
- Work requires physical strength, agility, and dexterity to safely perform essential job functions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Normal color vision required
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
- Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction) to safely perform the essential functions
- Fast manipulative skill in almost continuous use of machine or mechanical equipment
- Reaching, pulling, walking, and standing on concrete floors, kneeling, bending, stooping, and climbing into and under equipment
- Continuous standing, walking, or difficult working positions. Working with average or heavy weight materials and supplies
